The context:
DIYA āLight for Life (DIYA an acronym for DNR Irised Youth Association) is a student voluntary organization at DNRCET initiated with the motto of helping the poor and needy people. Every person does have a kind heart, but he/she does not know about the kindness that can show to others unless experiences a chance. To do social work like helping others we do not need much money rather there is need of dedication to help needy people.

Objective of the Practice:
The objective of this practice is to focus on skill development and career paths for the young engineering graduates for business, industry and self employment.

The Context:
The students are from vernacular back grounds that have come from villages. It is necessary to impart required skills for employability. The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has come into existence after bifurcation. The immediate necessity for industrialization is the manpower development. In the process the GoAP gave high priority for skills development through establishing Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC). The DNRCET, Bhimavaram Campus has been selected as a technical Skill Development Institute (t-SDI). The DNRCET is providing infrastructure in laboratories by adopting latest technologies in engineering design to serve the needs of various industrial units, training the students to improve employability, placement of students and enable the students to compete at the national and international level employment with better remuneration and professional group. Making the students, from rural background, come out of their mother tongue influence is a very big challenge. Improvement of communication skills in English language is a pre – requisite in the present multi – cultural corporate world.

MENTORING SYSTEM FOR STUDENTS

2. Objectives of the Practice
To minimize dropouts, improve performance and reduce stress of the students through personal counseling.
3. The Context
Students undergo various problems of stress- personal, academic, physical, mental. Engineering education is a time bound course with time limitations to complete your work especially during the first two years. Students are new to professional college life and the demands of education; create a lot of stress, especially to hostel students who are away from family for the first time. Also, in the economically weaker students and students from educationally weak background, this creates a lot of complex and do not perform well due to inhibitions. Statistics reveal increasing number of suicides and dropouts. Considering the student-teacher ratio in classrooms, it is impossible at times to give personal attention to students in class. One solution therefore is a āMentorā who can form the bond with students in the true sense. Mentoring is required for students to achieve emotional stability and to promote clarity in thinking and decision making for overall progress.
4. The Practice
The practice is that of creating an efficient mentor-ward system. Each teacher is assigned 15-20 students for the complete duration of their study. They meet at least once a week to discuss, clarify and primarily to share various problems which may be personal, domestic, academic, etc. The mentors encourage the students to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and sports. Their academic performance and other activities are all recorded. Students should inform their mentors on all their movements like their absence from college, sickness etc. The mentors also keep in touch with the parents on their attendance, test performance, fee payment, examinations etc. The teacher is equipped with all the necessary information about his/her wards on a file. The teacher involves local guardians and parents as well, whenever necessary for any advice or help. At the end of every month the mentors prepare a report of their mentees progress. The mentors also counsel the students in need of emotional problems. When the students have any problem in any department either with the staff or with work completion the mentors speak with the respective staff and sorts out the problem. Mentors take special care of slow learners, who are given advice on how to study, prepare a time table for study and clarify the doubts and also given notes to study. The mentors of every batch are advised by department admin and academic incharges. They will meet the mentors once a month and get the report of the progress and achievements of students and complaints of and by the students. These complaints are discussed with the Principal and necessary action taken to rectify the complaints.
5. Evidence of Success
It is needless to say that a mentor gets the job satisfaction. Evidence of success of the practice includes better results in the examinations, more regular attendance, less drop outs, increased participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, better discipline on campus and respectful relationship between teachers and students. The students are more relaxed and have a healthy relationship with the staffs.
6. Problems Encountered and Resources Required
This practice requires well-committed teaching staff that has the desire to help students beyond teaching hours. There are no limitations or constraints faced during implementing the program.

3.Ā Ā Ā THE CONTEXT:
Solar energy is a renewable source of energy as it can be used to produce electricity as long as the sun exists. Sunshine occurs naturally. As long as we are alive, we are always going to see the sun, which means it is infinite. This energy can be harnessed by installing solar panels that can reduce our dependence on other countries for consistent supply of coal to produce electricity. This makes it an attractive energy prospect for most countries that are looking to go completely green in the future.
Although solar energy cannot be produced during night and cloudy days but it can be used again and again during day time. Solar energy from sun is consistent and constant power source and can be used to harness power even in remote locations.
Cuts back on electricity bill:
One of the most interesting things about solar energy is that it can help you minimize your annoying utility bills. You can accomplish this by installing solar panels in your home. Solar energy takes up energy consuming activities like heating water and heating homes. Solar energy has the potential to save you up to 20% of your energy costs, even after financing costs are factored in. And with the ever rocketing of electricity costs, you could save up to $60,000 in the next 30 years.
Requires little maintenance:
The cost of installing a solar panel can be high. But once itās up and running, you will enjoy the benefits for many years, while injecting just a small amount for its maintenance. If your energy needs change and you desire to add more panels, it would be a lot easier. Initial cost that is incurred once can be recovered in the long run that range from 10 years ā 15 years. Apart from this, solar panels do not create any noise or release any toxic substances.
Easy Installation:
Solar panels are easy to install and does not require any wires, cords or power sources. Unlike wind and geothermal power stations which require them to be tied with drilling machines, solar panels does not require them and can be installed on the rooftops which means no new space is needed and each home or business user can generate their own electricity. Moreover, they can be installed in distributed fashion which means no large scale installations are needed. With the advancement in the technology and increase in the production, the cost of solar panels has come down slightly. Areas where cost of electricity is high, payback times can be even lower.
Can Be Used in Remote Locations:
Solar energy can be of great boon in areas which have no access to power cables. It Works great in remote locations where running power lines would be difficult or costly. Solar panels can set up to produce solar energy there as long as it receives the sunlight.

4. THE PRACTISE:
The college installed roof top ON-Grid solar power station with 130 solar panels and two 50 KVA, three 20 KVA, one 12.5 KVA, one 27.5 KVA inverters. The total generating capacity is 150KW.
5. EVIDENCE OF SUCCESS
In the year of 2019-20, 71,914 KWh power was generated from solar power plant. More than 46.6% of power requirement was utilized from the solar power plant.

1. Title of the Practice-1: Implementation of ICT based Innovative Teaching Methodologies
2. Goal: To establish digital and ICT enabled global teaching learning process with faculty as resource persons.
3. The Context: The use of ICT in the teaching-learning process has brought in revolutionary changes in much higher educational institution sat upgrading the teaching pedagogy in our college. This would enhance the teaching capabilities of the teachers as facilitator so flearning.It would also promote self-learning and help the students to gain Knowledge at their own learning pace. The role of the teacher is undergoing radical change – his expertise requires continuous training and coordination with colleagues in the use and practical applications of Information and communication technology (ICT) in education. ICT in the educational process should serve as a learning method and not only as a tool. At the same time, it is important to realize that ICT does not replace traditional teaching methods, but complements them by encouraging curiosity, research and experimentation.
4. The practice: The College has requested the teachers to adopt the use of audiovisual aids for effective teaching. To achieve this end, many teachers have been teaching with the help of power point presentations.
ā¢ In an effort towards self-learning, the students are also encouraged to prepare slides, transparency sheets and power points as a part of their assignments.Thismakesthe teaching-learning process a two way process, involvingboththeteachersandthelearners.
ā¢ In an attempt to adopt more sophisticated ICT tools, the college proposed multimedia material development for teachers and various active learning methods like Think-pair and share, Group problem solving, flipped class room technique etc are adopted in classrooms.

Title of the Practice: Campus to Corporate
1. Goal: The main aim is to provide the transition from being a student to become a professional.
2. The context: Students gain the confidence to perform a job, yet will be open to learn much on the job. They learn to blend into the new corporate world, yet will be willing to showcase their unique talents that will help them stand out among their peers. They will be equipped to work effectively on their own, yet wholeheartedly will contribute as team members. These are the very traits every corporate is expecting from todayās students.
Placements will be improved through the following efforts:
ļ· By establishing Training and placements (T&P) and appointing a placement officer and one member from each department.
ļ· By establishing career & guidance cell for counseling students on Bio-data& Job application.
ļ· By creating awareness on present scenario of industry needs and relevant skills needed for specific jobs (employability skills) and conducting on line tests and training programs and arranging industrial visits and guest lectures.
3. The practice: Students with career ambition and the potential for employment will be identified after the first semester. They will be motivated to improve their academic profile and join courses that will reinforce their employable skills. By the Sixth Semester, the cumulative acquisition of these skills along with the confidence they had gained through mind set, will make these students winners & increase our percentage of placement. To achieve the placements, different strategies like conducting orientation programmes, online tests, training programmes, etc for students have been organized.
Training and Placements (T&P) cell always play a vital role in networking graduating students with industry. It prepares students for the process of recruitment and simultaneously creates awareness among companies about the recruitment opportunities at DNRCET. DNRCET has been consistently topping in the list of campus placement records among private institutions in Andhra Pradesh. DNRCET established T&P cell to make the students globally employable. Every semester, students visit the industry and get trained on latest technological
advancements. also, guest lectures are arranged by inviting resource persons from the industry and academia.
4. Evidence of Success: The present final year students are well prepared for the job selection. Compared to last year, this year, our students achieved good results. Many students achieved placements in MNCs namely TCS, Infosys, Accenture etc. The total students placements in 2020-21 are271 with an average package of Rs 3.48LPA and with highest package of 7LPA while in the year 2018-19, the total students placements are 61 with an average package of Rs 3LPA and with highest package of Rs 3.5LPA. A senior student has been a strong motivation for the juniors to qualify themselves with employable skills.
5. Problems Encountered and Resources Required: Some students showed interest in core jobs while others in IT sector. Limited numbers of core companies are visiting the campus. It is a challenging task for placement members to motivate and create awareness on the present scenario of job market. Some students show interest in locally available jobs which do not offer attractive incentives.

The Context:
NPTEL offers free open online courses along with certification in various engineering disciplines, sciences, humanities, management and research which provide relevant exposure to tools and technologies. This facilitates flexibility for the faculty to prioritize the time and work at oneās own pace.In order to gain in-depth knowledge and mastery learning of various components of the curriculum, the faculty and studentsĀ can opt for courses from the same or interdisciplinary courses. In the light of the ever changing world of knowledge and technology unless faculty members update themselves they become out dated.
Teacher as a facilitator should also guide the students in online learning programs. The modular structure of these courses is learner-friendly and enables participants to move smoothly along the spiral of learning.AICTE recognizes advanced-level NPTEL courses as Faculty Development Programs for Engineering Colleges due to limited opportunities available for faculty to attend face-to-face or residential full-time training programs.
Objectives of the Practice:

The Practice:
DNR College of Engineering & Technology had set up NPTEL Local Chapter with an objective to enable the faculty and students to obtain certificates through enhanced technological learning. The faculty members and students were briefed about the NPTEL courses and motivated to enroll for the courses. The faculty members and students had the choice to select the course of their own interest, either related to their course or in new domain. Faculty membersĀ & students are enrolled in various courses pertaining to Engineering, Technology, Science, Management, Humanities and inter-disciplinary. The subjects like computer programming and soft skills and other core coursesĀ were opted by the faculty and students of different streams to upgrade their knowledge and evaluate themselves through weekly assignments. The faculty members utilized the video lectures and contents of NPTEL courses as an additional material for teaching the students. The digital library has been equipped with NPTEL online videos for the easy accessibility to the students and faculty through LAN.Ā Faculty members and students have appeared for theĀ NPTEL exam for the A.Y:2023-24 and achieved certification.
Obstacles faced/Problems encountered:
The regular course work of the college is conducted from June to November& December to April and the NPTEL courses are offered from July to October and January to April every year. Due to the coincidence in the course period it becomes hectic for the faculty to cope up with both the regular and NPTEL course work. In spite of these barriers faculty and students have achievedĀ certification. Few faculty members have achieved Elite certifications

Problems encountered and Resources required:
Since NPTEL is conducted by IITs and IISC, it becomes very difficult to motivate the students and faculty to enroll the courses and also, managing time towards preparation. NPTEL courses along with regular subject courses can be challenge for the institution.The Computers and Wi-Fi facility were readily available for the members enrolled in NPTEL courses. The digital library was easily accessible coupled with LAN connection. Feedback collected from the participants can be more comprehensive in nature.

TITLE OF THE PRACTICE:Blood donation camp : āSafe blood for allāĀ
- Blood donation is a great donation through joint efforts of faculty members, non-teaching staff, students & N.S.S. volunteers.
- Objectives of the practice:-Ā
- To raise global awareness of the need for safe blood &blood product for blood transfusion& critical contribution voluntarily.
- To sensitize the importance of blood donation among the students and create awareness about the scientific information about blood groups.
- To create awareness and encourage those who have not yet donated blood to start
- To focus attention on donor health and quality of donor care as critical factors in building donor commitment & willingness to donate regularly
- The context: – A blood donation camp was organized by NSS unit on 6th march 2024 with the courtesy of Ashram Medical College blood donation unit. In this blood donation camp , 10 students of our college donated blood voluntarily. All 10 blood donars were given certificates from the district hospital rajnandgaon blood bank.
It is a novel attempt on behalf of the college to involve one & all associated with the college to promote the blood donation for healthy atmosphere because health is wealth. It is a life-saving camp for human beings. The camp has been an integral part of the college for so many years. The camp is organized in collaboration with Ashram Medical College, Eluru andĀ is a perfect example of collaboration among different stakeholders as students and staff come together to make this event comprehensive and all-encompassing. The staff and students of the college are so enthusiastic about the event that they donate blood generously.
- The practice ā DNRCET NSS unit organizes Blood donation camp twice in a year. All the stakeholders of our college are committed towards the vision of blood donation for saving the life of the people. In the department of higher education , donating blood is voluntarily and due to a lack of awareness, some students do not donate We collect the blood from students and faculty to help the surrounding needy people. We extend a helping hand to the needy people. The blood collected will be handed over to the Ashram Medical college, Eluru, AP. The faculty and students took active part in the camp and few units of blood were donated. The underweight and the infected persons will not be allowed to provide donations as the medical advice. Donors will be provided with scientific information regarding the blood group and its associated disease. Finally, the institution believes that helping needy is an act of humanity.Thus, the college tries to continue this practice every year to serve the community
- Evidence of success : Sharing of life through blood donationā is mostly get motivated by altruism. The Camp was very successful and appreciated by all the stakeholders including blood bank. Every year we conduct 2 times in our college by NSS unit. The students and faculty have contributed to the campaign by donating the blood. Voluntary blood donation camps have resulted in a great social impact on students as well as teachers. The impact of this practice is apparent in personality development, moral education and civic responsibility among the students towards Institution, communities, and the nation. It has also been observed that students develop managerial ability by organizing such types of programs in the Institution to create social and national unity. The participation is increasing every year.Ā
- Problems encountered& resources required : A lot of awareness is needed for students in different attitudes about the donation of the blood and its importance. Most of the students of the college hail from rural backgrounds. Initially, they hesitate to donate blood due to their misconceptions and myths about blood donation. Fear and superstition is the main cause to share and receive information. To break down the misconceptions and myths, the staff members, and NSS cadets clarify their doubts and motivate them to come forward to donate blood for the social cause.
As Awareness w.r.t blood donation is needed, it requires fundingĀ and sufficient beds and other surgical items are needed for donation.
